The Chef’s Suite is one of only two luxury suites set above the lobby, just off the Fitch Mountain Overlook, our rooftop event deck. A door off the deck opens to a short hallway, past the elevator and your dedicated ice machine, ending at the suite’s front door. Come and go by the exterior stairwells without ever passing through the lobby, or take the elevator, where The Living Room quietly awaits below.
Morning and evening, the Fitch Mountain Overlook is just outside your door: pull up a chair at a bistro table, or take a seat at The Duchamp King’s Table, with coffee at sunrise or a glass of wine at golden hour.
Neither rooftop suite keeps a private patio, and neither needs one: the entire roof deck is just steps from your door, a quiet world of its own above the lobby, with a bird’s-eye view of the Pool Courtyard and Fitch Mountain. These are the only two second floor suites at Duchamp with elevator access; all other upper level suites on our property are served by stairs only.
The name is an affectionate one. Visiting chefs stay here when they cook for our Celebrated Chef series and other Duchamp Healdsburg culinary events. Drawn by the commercial display kitchen that anchors the rooftop event deck, the suite has kept its name, and a little of the spirit that comes with it.
Inside, the suite lives like a refined studio: a king bed with nightstands, and a comfortable living room area for reading, working, or settling in with a glass of wine. A small kitchenette serves the essentials, along with an under-counter Sub-Zero refrigerator. A handsome armoire stands in for a closet, fitting for a suite designed for convenience, efficiency, and comfort.
The windows are the suite’s quiet luxury. For its size, the room holds a remarkable amount of glass, all of it facing west, so the afternoon light pours in and the day ends with a westerly view toward the hills.
In the bathroom, a double vanity in polished granite is joined by an all-glass shower, all finished the same as every suite at Duchamp.
