Foley Family Community Pavilion
The Foley Family Community Pavilion, fifty steps from the Duchamp front door
Just fifty steps from our front door stands the Foley Family Community Pavilion: the permanent home of the Healdsburg Farmers' Market and the City's newest gathering place. Out the lobby door, a short walk, no car, no plan required, and you are there. A slow stroll into the kind of morning a stay in Healdsburg is meant for.
The Healdsburg Farmers' Market has been setting up its tables since 1978 and is one of the oldest certified markets in California. In 2026 it finally came to a permanent home under one of only two covered outdoor pavilions north of San Francisco. The pavilion rose from the bones of an old cannery beside City Hall, a soaring covered hall opening onto a sunlit plaza, and on market mornings the city closes North Street so the whole block belongs to growers, local producers, bakers, chefs, and neighbors. The market runs Tuesdays and Saturdays from May through September, and Saturdays only from April into mid December, rain or shine.
For a town of this size, it is one of the best farmers markets in the country. The pleasure is in the particulars. Ranunculus wrapped in brown paper. Heirloom tomatoes still warm from the field. Bread still warm from the morning's oven, olive oil from the next valley over, and honey from someone who will tell you about the bees. There is always live music, a guitar or a small jazz band drifting under the roof, and there is always someone who has been coming since they were a child, buying from a farmer they have known just as long. This is not a farmers market staged for visitors. It is Healdsburg feeding itself, and you are welcome at the table.
The market keeps the town's calendar the way it always has: a cake walk on the Fourth of July, a Zucchini Festival at the end of summer, the Quail & Condor Bake-Off and a Pumpkin Festival in October, and a holiday craft market that carries the season through December. On other days the pavilion hosts the concerts and community gatherings a small town holds dear. Whatever the occasion, the walk from your suite is a few steps and always worth taking.
For our guests the market becomes a ritual almost immediately, a given even on a stay with no agenda. Coffee in hand, out the front door, across the way, and back to the Pool Courtyard with fresh bread and local cheese, a bag of figs, and a bunch of flowers for the suite. Breakfast is the perfect peach you chose yourself. No parking, no schedule, nothing to arrange. Simply the good, unhurried rhythm of a place that still knows its farmers by name, all just fifty steps from our lobby door.
