Ridge Vineyards

Ridge has been making single-vineyard wine since 1962, from a philosophy they describe as pre-industrial: organic farming, minimal intervention, and the belief that additives limit what a wine can be.

The Lytton Springs property in Dry Creek Valley came into the Ridge estate in 1991. The vines are over a hundred years old. The winery building is made of compacted rice straw bales with walls of clay taken from the vineyard itself, sand, and straw, and it runs primarily on solar.

The tasting room looks south onto the old vines and east into the barrel room. The Estate Tasting is a seated flight of five single-vineyard wines. If you want to go deeper, the historic vineyard tour takes you into sites that are rarely open, with wines poured from the very vines you are standing in.
