Hawley Winery

John Hawley has been making wine for four decades. His sons grew up in the vineyard. Dana Hawley’s plein-air paintings hang on the walls of the tasting room downtown.

The estate is in West Dry Creek Valley on certified organic ground, and the family makes more than twenty small-lot wines from estate fruit and select vineyards around the county. The Zinfandel gets the attention. The Rhone varietals John has quietly championed for years are worth asking about.

Most of our guests walk to the downtown tasting room, a few minutes from the front door, where wine-barrel furniture sits out front and nobody rushes you. John also flies falcons, which is a separate afternoon entirely and one we can arrange.
